The play was originally produced in 1975 and was a poetic exploration of what it is to be of color and a female in this world. In the above trailer we see all the ladies of the cast including Anika Noni Rose (as Yasmine), Kerry Washington (as Kelly), Jackson (as Joanna), Kimberly Elise (as Crystal), Phylicia Rashad (as Gilda), Loretta Devine (as Juanita), and Newton (Tangie) fighting their own personal demons.

This will be the first film that Tyler Perry has directed that isn’t based on his own, original material. It will be interesting to see if he can pull it off.

For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow Is Enuf is scheduled to hit theaters on November 5th.
