Way before “Modern Family,” the most popular comedy on ABC was “Home Improvement.” It was created by stand up comedian Tim Allen and centered on Tim ‘The Tool Man’ Taylor, the star of a do it yourself home improvement show. The series ran for 8 seasons and ended in 1999, leaving a void that’s never been filled. But according to a recent report, Allen might be plotting a small screen return!
CNN claims that Allen is looking for a project that’s currently in development for the Fall 2011 TV season.
“It will be huge,” predicts one manager of Allen’s comeback — if and when it happens. Another source indicated that the actor is taking “a few select meetings” with writer-producers, one of whom may include Greg Daniels (“Parks & Recreation,” “The Office“).
Could he be up for the job that Steve Carell is leaving at “The Office”? Nothing is set in stone but he’s definitely weighing his options. Whatever he decides to do, we’ll give it a chance. “Home Improvement” holds a special place in our hearts, not only because it made us laugh but because it gave us JTT aka Jonathan Taylor Thomas (yep, we went there).
