The 2010 fall season is starting to look pretty amazing. We have two new casting scoops that include actors known for playing iconic characters, Katee Sackhoff and Robert Englund! Yes, Starbuck and Freddy Krueger will be on your screens this season. One will join the cast of the CBS hit “CSI“, while the other will make an appearance on NBC’s cult action series “Chuck.”

According to EW, Katee Sackhoff has landed a (potential) recurring role on “CSI” as “Detective Reed, a smart, tough, and feisty investigator with an acknowledged lack of sensitivity.” There’s irony in this casting that dates back to the departure of co-star Jorga Fox, whom Sackhoff was originally slated to replace 3 years ago. Apparently, a “higher power” decided not to bring the “Battlestar” alum on, but she made it onto the show anyway. In your face random executive! She’s expected to make her first appearance during November sweeps.

On a scarier front, we’re hearing that horror icon Robert Englund will do a guest spot on “Chuck.” The original Freddy will conveniently appear during this year’s Halloween episode as “Dr. Stanley Wheelwright, an evil scientist who can make your waking life a nightmare.” Who didn’t see that coming? He’ll air during the sixth episode of the season, which is entitled “Chuck Versus Aisle of Terror.”

What do you think of the latest castings for CSI and Chuck? Are you looking forward to the actors coming on board?
