How many great writers/producers/directors does it take to create a decent TV series? According to a recent report from EW, JJ Abrams has joined forces with screenwriter Jonah Nolan (The Dark Knight) for a new television drama called “Alcatraz.” Abrams already has a couple of shows currently in production (“Fringe”, “Undercovers“) but that hasn’t stopped him from shopping around this new project to networks.

“Alcatraz” is being described as a crime-thriller but info regarding the actual plot is being kept under lock and key. Abrams is known for taking relative unknowns and making them stars, we wonder who he’ll cast in this show. He brought Keri Russell, Jennifer Garner, Evangeline Lilly, and Anna Torv to Hollywood’s attention with “Felicity,” “Alias,” “Lost,”and “Fringe.”

According to sources, one specific network is seriously interested in the project, but who could it be? Abrams has had shows on ABC, FOX, and NBC. “Alcatraz” will mark Nolan’s first attempt at writing for the small screen, which we’re really excited to see. He tells such amazing stories in his feature films, could you imagine what he’d bring to the table on a weekly basis?
