By Krystal Clark
Tyler Perry is stepping outside of his comfort zone with the drama For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow Is Enuf. It’s the first film that he’s directed that isn’t based on his own material. It’s an adaptation of a play by Ntozake Shange, that features a series of monologues based on the colors of the rainbow. Lionsgate has released the first official photo from the film and it features an amazing cast including Janet Jackson, Phylicia Rashad, Kerry Washington, and Thandie Newton. Check out the full roster below…

The play was originally produced in 1975 and was a poetic exploration of what it is to be of color and a female in this world. In the above photo it features all the ladies of the cast including (from left to right): Anika Noni Rose (as Yasmine), Washington (as Kelly), Jackson (as Joanna), Kimberly Elise (as Crystal), Rashad (as Gilda), Loretta Devine (as Juanita), Tessa Thompson (Nyla) and Newton (Tangie).
The film also co-stars Isaiah Mustafa. Yes, the Old Spice guy is in this movie.
For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow Is Enuf is scheduled to hit theaters on November 5th.

I loved this movie. This movie/play willremain the biggest of any time, wanna know why? Because it brings you face to face with your feelings and thoughts in the past, the present, or the future. It reminds me that I am a person with valid feelings and I need to stand up for myself or live with regret about never having done anything to turn it all around. Thanks Tyler
