The Marvel machine is chugging ahead with its latest film adaptation, which will be based on Iron Fist. He’s one of the many characters under the superhero banner, who also has some history with The Avengers. According to Deadline, the studio has hired a screenwriter to tackle his story and the writer of choice is Rich Wilkes.
Wilkes previously penned the Vin Diesel flick XXX, and has been commissioned by Marvel to work his screenwriting magic on Iron Fist. The character was created in 1974 by Roy Thomas and Gil Kane. His civilian name is Randy Daniel Thomas Rand-K’ai and he’s a martial arts master who has a unique healing ability. His secret weapon is his “chi” which enhances his strength, speed, stamina, durability, agility, reflexes and senses.
Marvel previously attempted an Iron Fist feature nearly a decade ago with Artisan Films and Ray Park attached in the title role. Unfortunately, nothing ever came of it but when Disney bought the comic giant they promised to breathe life into lesser known characters by bringing them to the big screen.
This will mark the second Marvel film being developed under the Disney banner following Dr. Strange.
