It looks like everyone is taking Christopher Nolan’s approach to sequels these days. One of the writers of JJ Abrams’ Star Trek 2 is Damon Lindelof (“Lost“), and he was recently juiced for info from the folks at EOnline about what we can expect from the new film. The response he gave was of epic, four star, critically acclaimed proportions…

When asked about ST2, Lindelof said,

“We’re looking at a movie like The Dark Knight, which went one step beyond Batman Begins,” Lindelof said. “It was really about something, and at the same time it was a superhero movie. We don’t want to abandon all the things that made the first movie work…but we also really want the movie to thematically resonate.”

Hmm, this sounds good but after watching him create a “resonating theme” for the last season of “Lost,” it’s a hard sell. Abrams is 100% trustworthy and will be heavily involved making sure that Star Trek 2 goes in the direction of The Dark Knight and not in the direction of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. Michael Bay wanted his sequel to go beyond the first Transformers and he ended up completely missing the mark.

Do you think Star Trek 2 could be better than the first one?
