Anthony Mackie is everywhere! The actor who co-starred in the Best Picture Oscar winner The Hurt Locker is just one of the many names being thrown around for Paramount’s Mission Impossible 4. Tom Cruise and Ving Rhames have already been confirmed to bring Ethan and Luther back, and now the studio wants to add some new blood.
According to The Wrap, a trio of actors have popped up as possible co-stars for the sequel including Mackie, Kevin Zegers, and Christopher Egan. All three are currently testing for a role in MI:4 but we’re sure if they’re competing with one another or trying out for different parts. Out of the group, Mackie has the most exposure via his Hurt Locker performance as well as gigs in Half Nelson, Notorious (as the late Tupac Shakur), and he even has a role in Matt Damon’s upcoming film The Adjustment Bureau.
Zegers is no spring chicken either, the former child actor (from the Air Bud series) starred as Felicity Huffman’s son in Transamerica, co-starred in the indie film Frozen, and will play Clyde Barrow opposite Hilary Duff’s Bonnie in The Story of Bonnie and Clyde. Egan on the other hand was the lead on the short-lived NBC series “Kings” and had a supporting part in Resident Evil Extinction and Letters to Juliet.
It sounds like the studio is trying to build a solid team around Cruise hoping that their likability will rub off on the actor. His last film Knight and Day was a bomb for Fox, but there were a lot of other issues that kept that movie from being a hit.
Out of these 3 actors who do you want to see standing next to Cruise?
