The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo is a faded memory for Oscar nominee Carey Mulligan. She was once a contender for the sought after role of Lisbeth Salander in David Fincher’s American adaptation of the book. She lost out to newcomer Rooney Mara, and is looking for other projects to occupy her time. According to THR, she’s in talks to star in a film called Drive opposite Ryan Gosling and “Breaking Bad’s” Bryan Cranston.
Drive is an adaptation of James Sallis novel about “a nameless Hollywood stuntman (Gosling) who moonlights as a freelance getaway driver during robberies. When a bank heist goes wrong, he ends up on the run with a contract on his head and an ex-con’s girlfriend in his car.” Mulligan will play the unlucky passenger.
The screenplay was written by Hossein Amini, who also penned Killshot. The film is scheduled to start shooting in Los Angeles in September. We wonder who Cranston’s going to play? The ex-con? It would be really weird for Mulligan to be his girlfriend but then again, haven’t we seen worse? He could be a cop of some sort, or maybe even the assassin sent out to kill Gosling’s character. The possibilities are endless.
What do you think of Mulligan joining Drive? Do you think she and Gosling are a good match?
