The casting for David Fincher’s adaptation of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo is speeding up. Now that we know who’ll play the coveted role of Lisbeth (Rooney Mara) we can get on to the other supporting characters in the film. According to a report from Variety, veteran actor Max von Sydow is in talks to play the pivotal role of Henrik Vanger.
The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo centers on a middle-aged journalist who joins forces with a private investigator named Lisbeth Salander to solve a missing persons case that’s been open for decades. Daniel Craig will play the journalist Mikael Blomkvist, who’ll work alongside Mara as Salander. The cast also includes Robin Wright and Stellan Skarsgard.
Von Sydow’s character Henrik is the one who hires the journalist to find out what happened to his niece 40 plus years ago. But not only does he hire the journalist, he also hires Salander to dig up dirt on Blomkvist. Vanger is definitely more than what meets the eye and Sydow is perfect for the role. Not only because he’s a talented actor but because he’s Swedish! He along with Skarsgard will be pleasant reminders of the film’s source material.
