We never thought we’d say this, but Hugh Jackman should step away from the role of Wolverine for a while. In all seriousness, he played the guy for a decade and we love him for it but X-Men Origins: Wolverine proved to fans of the character and the X-Men mythology that they don’t know what the hell they’re doing. Jackman must really want to redeem the hero because he’s just pulled out of a starring role in a film called Avon Man to go into training for Wolverine 2. Yes, Wolverine 2 is still happening.

Even though the premise for Avon Man seemed a little unconventional, it sounded like an interesting film for the actor to take on. The story centers on a group of men who are laid off from their jobs at a local car dealership. In an attempt to generate some type of income one of them reluctantly decides to become an Avon salesman. Initially he’s uncomfortable with the position but he soon begins to flourish in the field by using his charm and good looks to become one of the companies top sellers.

The film is quoted as having a “Full Monty” vibe to it, when the man convinces some of his small town buddies to join a regional contest in order to support his struggling family. The first draft of the script was written by Kevin Bisch, with the rewrite being done by Allan Loeb. Jackman has stepped down as the star but will stay on as a producer under his Seed Productions banner.

The film is slated to begin production in October and offers have already gone out to other actors to replace Jackman.

What do you think of Jackman’s decision to drop out of Avon Man? Are you interested in Wolverine 2?
