There are more castings to report regarding 20th Century Fox’s X-Men prequel First Class. The good news is that they’ve put in two more characters but the bad news is that neither one of them are members of the actual first class. There’s no Jean Grey, no Angel, no Ice Man, and no Cyclops, instead we’ve got Dr. Moira McTaggert and the mutant Azazel.

According to THR, “Damages” star Rose Byrne is in talks to join the cast as MacTaggert, “a scientist and an authority on genetic mutation. She’ll be the love interest of James McAvoy, who plays mutant telepath Charles Xavier.” The last time we saw MacTaggert, she appeared in 2006′s X-Men: The Last Stand and was played by Olivia Williams.

We’ve also got another mutant joining the party in the form of Azazel. He’ll be played by Clash of the Titans star Jason Flemyng. In the comics, Azazel is a demon-looking teleporter who is revealed to be the father of Nightcrawler, who was originally played by Alan Cumming in X-Men 2: X-Men United. The interesting thing here is that Mystique, Nightcrawler’s mother has also been cast, and she’ll be played by Jennifer Lawrence. We wonder how those two are going to interact with one another.

So far the cast of First Class includes, Michael Fassbender as Erik Lehnsherr a.k.a Magneto, Nicholas Hoult as Hank McCoy a.k.a. Beast, Caleb Landry Jones as Sean Cassidy a.k.a. Banshee, Lucas Till as Alex Summers a.k.a Havoc, Edi Gathegi as Darwin, Alice Eve as Emma Frost a.k.a. The White Queen, and Kevin Bacon as an unnamed villain.

X-Men First Class will be directed by Matthew Vaughn and is scheduled to hit theaters on June 3, 2011.
