What movie is this? Are they sure they’re making X-Men First Class over at Fox because it’s starting to look like a big clusterf*ck. Earlier today we reported on two new additions to the cast with Rose Byrne and Jason Flemyng as Dr. Moira MacTaggert and Nightcrawler’s father Azazel. If those weren’t enough, Deadline is reporting that Oliver Platt (“The Big C“) has also signed on for a role and we know for sure it’s not Cyclops! What the hell?

Who will Platt play? We have no idea. Apparently, his character is being referred to as The Man in Black (Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse are somewhere punching a wall). Not only does he not have a legit identity but he’s also not a mutant, so once again the casting priorities here are screwed. Instead of focusing on the major X-Men staples like Cyclops, Jean Grey, Angel, and Ice Man, they continue to cast all of these supporting characters we don’t care about.

So far the First Class roster includes, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender as Erik Lehnsherr a.k.a Magneto, Nicholas Hoult as Hank McCoy a.k.a. Beast, Caleb Landry Jones as Sean Cassidy a.k.a. Banshee, Lucas Till as Alex Summers a.k.a Havoc, Edi Gathegi as Darwin, Alice Eve as Emma Frost a.k.a. The White Queen, and Kevin Bacon as an unnamed villain.

X-Men First Class will be directed by Matthew Vaughn and is scheduled to hit theaters on June 3, 2011.
