Today is the day that a lot of people dread, it’s Friday, the 13th (cue the suspenseful music)! It doesn’t mean much if you’re not superstitious but it can rattle your bones if you’re a fan of the horror genre. One of the most famous films associated with the special day bears the same name and centers on an almost supernatural masked killer named Jason Voorhees, or as he’s known in the streets — Jason. In honor of his big day we wanted to pay homage to the throwback villain. Take a look…
One of the biggest misconceptions about Friday the 13th is Jason’s place in the franchise. A lot of people forget that he wasn’t a prominent part of the first film, which was released in 1980 (and starred a young Kevin Bacon). He wasn’t the original killer, it was his psycho mother who was driven by revenge because of Jason’s death (he drowned) as a young boy at Camp Crystal Lake. She blamed the counselors for not watching him more closely so every year she’d go back and kill all the young and horny kids who were too busy groping each other to do their jobs.
From that awesome premise, we were given a laundry list of sequels, most of which we didn’t need but we still watched.
- Friday the 13th (1980)
- Friday the 13th: Part 2
- Friday the 13th Part III
- Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter
- Friday the 13th: A New Beginning
- Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives

- Friday the 13th (2009)
Friday the 13th was the eighties version of the Saw series, a film was released almost every year or every other year. Even though the reboot was successful at the box office producer Brad Fuller doesn’t think they’ll be another one anytime soon. But don’t worry you still have 12 slice and dice sequels to keep you entertained.
