If there’s one thing you don’t want to do, it’s piss off an old veteran actor. Once they get to a certain age, they don’t care anymore and they start spewing venom left and right. In this case, the anger is somewhat warranted and it’s coming from French star and former pin-up Brigitte Bardot. She’s still alive and kicking and the actress-turned-activist recently caught wind of a planned biopic surrounding her life and she’s not happy about it.

Last summer (June 2009 to be exact), there was word of a film being developed about Bardot’s life that would have Jamie King playing the actress. The movie will be directed by Kyle Newman, who also wrote the script and will produce. According to the Guardian, Bardot doesn’t support the project one bit and is actually kind of pissed about the whole thing.

“I am not OK with a film about me when I have not been told about it and when I have not given my agreement to the person playing my role,” she told French radio today.

In an interview prior to that she said, “A film about my life? But I’m not dead! They wouldn’t dare do it without talking to me. If they do sparks will fly.” She doesn’t personally think anyone else can embody her attitude or style. In regards to another actress playing her she stated,

“No one”, she declared, was right for the role, whether French or foreign. “They have their own personalities but they don’t have mine.

Brigitte Bardot became a hot commodity in film due to her sex kitten image, but retired from acting shortly before turning forty in 1973. She was considered a very risky actress to hire back then because she was best known for her European films which were too racy during the fifties and sixties for American audiences. Her persona is unique and it’s hard to picture anyone recreating it on the big screen.

What do you think of Bardot’s reaction to the movie? Do you think she’s being fair?
