Back in February, we learned that Terrence Malick was working on a new untitled project that was described as a “powerful and moving love story.” At the time Christian Bale was set to star in one of the lead roles along with Rachel McAdams, Olga Kurylenko, and Javier Bardem and now according to a report from The Wrap, Bale is out and Ben Affleck is in.

Sources close to the project claim that Bale is no longer on board and that Affleck has taken his place. The film is scheduled to start production the first week of October in Oklahoma. There are rumors that Affleck might play a fisherman in the movie but other than that, nothing else has been said about the characters or storyline. On the plus side, we’ve learned that Oscar winner Rachel Weisz has signed on to co-star in the the feature, which was confirmed by her publicist.

There are a lot of grade-A actors involved with this film, which makes us even more interested in it. But we shouldn’t be surprised by all the secrecy considering the director. Malick is extremely talented but he’s somewhat of a recluse. He’s only directed a handful of of films during his career including Badlands, Days of Heaven, The Thin Red Line, and The New World, which co-starred Bale.

What do you think of Affleck taking over Bale’s role? Is he a good pick?
