Over the past few days there have been a lot of rumors surrounding “Glee” star Jane Lynch and whether or not she’ll host “Saturday Night Live.” Apparently, the actress had no idea that she landed the gig and was notified via her “Glee” boss Ryan Murphy about her new hosting duties. And when she finally found out what the hell was going on she was ecstatic!

Murphy says that he told Lynch about the hosting job by accident after receiving a call from “SNL” creator Lorne Michaels

“‘Saturday Night Live’ called to say, ‘Would you give us Jane for a week in October?’ We just don’t do that, but for Lorne Michaels, I said yes.”

After telling Michaels he could steal Lynch for a weekend he went and broke the news to the actress.

“I said, Lady, you’re doing ‘Saturday Night Live,’” Murphy said. “And she literally wrote back, ‘What are you talking about?’”

Who wouldn’t want to get that text message in the middle of the day? Lynch’s episode is scheduled to air in October and it’s definitely one that we’ll be waiting for.

Are you excited to see Lynch on the show? Do you think she’ll do a good job?
