Last summer we learned that a screenwriter had been hired to take on the developing Twilight Zone movie, therefore we knew The Outer Limits wouldn’t be too far behind. The other sci-fi/horror show that featured vignettes about extraordinary encounters and situations is heading to the big screen according to Variety.
If the idea of this film doesn’t bother you, it really should and here’s why: MGM is producing it and the screenwriters from Saw are penning the story. Does that have you shaking in your boots? MGM can’t green light The Hobbit, Robocop, or James Bond but they can move forward with The Outer Limits? Where’s the logic in that?
The studio has hired Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan to pen the script, who besides Saw also wrote Feast, a horror-action-comedy. Like The Twilight Zone, The Outer Limits has had several television incarnations with the first one running from 1963 to 1965, followed by a nineties reboot from 1995 to 1999.

We’re not sure how they’re going to use the anthology set up the show was known for in feature form. Perhaps they’ll follow the model used in the 1983 Twilight Zone movie?
