Have you been on the edge of your seat waiting for the next Spider-Man and Men in Black movies? Probably not, but just in case you were Sony has released the production start dates for the films. Not only are they both under the same studio but they’re both major franchise pics scheduled to debut during the summer of 2012. Are you ready?

According to ComingSoon, Marc Webb’s Spider-Man reboot will start filming this December in Los Angeles. There’s been no word of whether or not they’ll hit up New York City as a location as well. If they don’t, it will feel sort of contrived. Spider-Man’s not the same without a legitimate NYC background. The film is slated to hit theaters on July 2, 2012 with British actor Andrew Garfield in the title role.

As for Men in Black III, they will definitely hit the New York streets for their production, which will begin in September. Once again, the sequel will be directed by Barry Sonnenfeld and will star Will Smith, Tommy Lee Jones, and newcomer Jemaine Clement. There’s also word that Josh Brolin is on board to play a younger version of Jones’ character Agent Kay. Men in Black III will debut in theaters on May 25, 2012.

What do you think of Spider-Man and Men in Black III’s production dates? Are you surprised that Spidey won’t be shot in New York?
