After standing in a ridiculous line for Hall H at the San Diego Convention Center, we finally got to see the Green Lantern panel. The cast and director were in attendance including Ryan Reynolds who stars as the title character, his love interest Blake Lively and his arch enemy Peter Sarsgaard. Here’s what went down when all these guys got on stage to talk about one of the most anticipated films of 2011 in front of thousands of fanboys…

The Green Lantern panel was filled with epicness (to steal from Scott Pilgrim vs The World) including a sneak peek at some footage from the film (we’ve given a in depth first look so be sure to check that out). Reynolds spoke a bit about his characterization of Hal Jordon and describes him as a hero who can “throw a punch, tell a joke, and kiss a girl.”

He also spoke about Jordan’s arrogance, and said that once he’s given this amazing power he’s extremely humbled. As for the other characters in the film, Donald Deline was on hand and said that Kilowog will be in the movie as well as a few other famous Lantern characters. They’ll be added using the magic of special effects so look out for that people!

Director Martin Campbell described the tone of the film and said that it has some humor but the relationships and the action is very real. He also talked about the infamous Green Lantern suit, and said it has lines that flow across it like a second skin. It’s a representation of the bond between the suit, the power, and the man.

Reynolds stated that they have 3 weeks left of production and the film will wrap after that. We have plenty of time before we see the Green Lantern on the big screen. It hits theaters on June 17, 2011.
