Hollywood has become obsessed with making live action versions of well known children’s properties. With the success of Alice in Wonderland are you really surprised that Tinkerbell’s next? You know the pixie little fairy who appears in the Peter Pan stories? According to Variety, she’ll appear in the human form of Elizabeth Banks in a romantic comedy aptly titled, Tink.

Tink is being produced by Adam Shankman, Jennifer Gibgot and McG (why’s he involved?). The plot for the film is being kept under wraps but it’s said to center on “the mischievous nature of the Tinkerbell character.” The script will be written by both Elizabeth Wright Shapiro, who helped develop the project and McG, which once again begs the question, “Why?”

Banks is a great actress and she physically does look like Tinkerbell. The blond-hair, wide blue eyes, and mischievous smile work for the role. As for the story and the screenplay, I have reservations. There’s nothing wrong with broadening your horizons but McG’s involvement in this seems awkward.  Maybe this could work on some unconventional level but only time will tell.

What do you think about Elizabeth Banks playing Tinkerbell? What do you think of McG’s involvement with the film?
