Disney has been extremely heavy handed with their marketing of this winter’s Tron Legacy setting it up to become the next Avatar. The long awaited sequel is directed by Joseph Kosinski and we’re sure after the film drops his services will be in high demand. According to THR, he won’t have to wait that long because he’s already become a hot commodity. The trade is reporting that he’s signed on to direct the sci-fi/action film, Archangels.
The film is being developed by New Regency and will be produced by Ridley and Tony Scott’s Scott Free Productions. Archangels was written by newcomer Andrew Will and centers on a “protagonist who’s part of an elite force that is tasked with tracking aliens who get past Earth’s defense system.” It’s described as a “Bourne”-style thriller crossed with alien elements. Sounds intriguing.
Archangels is just the latest project that Kosinski has taken on following his remake of the 80′s classic The Black Hole. Judging from the early footage that was screened at last year’s Comic-Con and the the first trailer, Tron Legacy might be the most visually impressive film of 2010 along with Christopher Nolan’s Inception. Do you think Archangels could take it to the next level?
What do you think of Kosinski directing Archangels? Do you think he’s the right man for the job?
