Do you remember when Joaquin Phoenix was a respected up and coming actor? Do you remember when he received an Oscar nomination for his amazing performance as a psycho emperor in Gladiator? Most importantly do you remember when he went batshit crazy, started dressing like a hobo, and acting like he was under the influence of some serious drugs? That last moment in his life was chronicled in a film by Casey Affleck entitled I’m Still Here and it’s been confirmed to hit theaters this fall.

The project has been picked up by independent movie distributors Magnolia Pictures and is scheduled for a September 10th release. I’m Still Here is somewhat of a family affair considering that Phoenix is Affleck’s brother-in-law (Affleck is married to his sister Summer). The movie will chronicle the actor’s decision to retire from Hollywood to embark on a career in hip hop, which began in 2008.

The announcement was followed by several bizarre public appearances on television and even a few “rap performances.” At the time he was said to be working on an album with Sean “Diddy” Combs but to this day no music has surfaced from their collaboration. His last film was 2008′s Two Lovers.
