You got with with a tittle like Devil and the tagline “Bad things happen for a reason…” but you completely lose me when I hear “From the mind of M. Night Shyamalan.” Though he did not direct this film, newcomer John Erick Dowdle does, nor write it, Brian Nelson has him covered there… it’s still from HIS mind. Shyamalan came up with the idea for the film and is one of the producers. I will say that the man does have good ideas, he just should never be allowed to write a screenplay again. Maybe they’ve finally found the answer! Let him have an idea and then take it and make it interesting?
All that we know about it is that it “is a supernatural thriller with M. Night Shyamalan’s signature touch.” I hope by touch they don’t mean ability to destroy a seemingly good idea with nonsense and horrible dialogue.
Watch the trailer and lets discuss…
I don’t know, I’m still scared… The trailer looks like it wants to be Inception (with things twisting around in odd ways and shots of giant buildings) mixed with The Happening (people jumping off high places and screaming a lot). I don’t see anything new here, there’s no signs of something amazing, but it does look scary!
The film stars a cast of not super well known but recognizable actors such as Chris Messina, Geoffrey Arend, Logan Marshall-Green, Bojana Novakovic, Jenny O’Hara, and Bokeem Woodbine Jacob Vargas. I personally prefer scary movies without movie stars because you often can’t predict (as easily) who will die first.
It’s expected in theaters September 17, 2010.
What do you think will be more scary? The film or the filmmaking?
