The cast of the next sequel in the Fast and the Furious franchise entitled Fast Five just got another action star. When the film was initially announced Vin Diesel and Paul Walker were confirmed to reprise their roles, then there was word that Tyrese Gibson was back on board after his hiatus from 2 Fast and 2 Furious, and now a new cast member has signed on in the form of Dwayne Johnson!
Johnson has been rumored to be a potential co-star for the past few weeks and now it’s been confirmed via Gibson’s Twitter. Don’t you love it when actors break casting news before anyone else? Here’s what the star said about the latest Furious sequel.
“Major shouts to Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, & Dewayne [sic] “Rock” Johnson!! “Fast & Furious Five” Let’s get em again!!”
There you have it, they’re at it again! We’re not sure how much macho-manliness this film can take but if The Expendables can do it anyone can. After a string of forgettable family films, Johnson has returned to his hardcore action roots. According to Collider, his role in Fast Five is said to be “on the right side of the law.”
In the Furious series, the right and wrong sides of the law are both filled with areas of gray so we don’t know what that means exactly.
Are you excited to see Johnson in Fast Five? Are you interested in seeing the film?
