We just reported on speculation regarding Aaron Johnson’s involvement with X-Men First Class and now we’ve got two official casting announcements for the film. According to Variety, Nicholas Hoult (Clash of the Titans) and Caleb Landry Jones have just signed on to play Beast and Banshee respectively.
It was previously stated that Benjamin Walker had landed the role of Beast aka Hank McCoy in the film but he was let go due to his age. Twentieth Century Fox felt that he didn’t look young enough to be a student of James McAvoy’s, who will play Professor Xavier in the film. The trade is reporting that 20 year-old Hoult will take on the role instead.
As for Jones, we speculated on his casting last week and it appears that the rumors were true! He’ll play Sean Cassidy aka Banshee, a mutant of Irish decent who has the ability to release sonic screams. These two will join the cast that currently includes McAvoy, Michael Fassbender (Magneto) and Alice Eve (Emma Frost)
So Matthew Vaughn’s first class of X-Men includes Banshee? Where’s Angel, Iceman, and Jean Grey? They better pop up in this movie or they’ll be hell to play!
What do you think of the cast for X-Men First Class so far?
