Showtime is pulling out all the stops for the new season of its drug-induced comedy “Weeds” with the addition of an Oscar winning actor. According to EW, the network has just announced that Richard Dreyfuss will guest star in not one but several episodes of the series that’s embarking on its sixth season later this summer.

Dreyfuss will appear in 4 episodes this season as an unexpected character from Nancy Botwin’s (Mary-Louise Parker) past. What does that mean exactly? We don’t know but we’ll definitely be tuning in on August 16th when the show returns to find out. This stint isn’t the first time the actor has appeared on the cable channel, he previously starred in its production of The Day Reagan Was Shot.

It’s hard to believe but nine years ago Dreyfuss was a series regular on the CBS show “The Education of Max Bickford” followed by a supporting role in the SyFy original mini-series, Tin Man (which I actually watched). Who’s excited to see what the new season of “Weeds” has in store for us?

What do you think of Dreyfuss joining the cast of Weeds? Who do you think he’ll play? What do you think will happen this season?
