The cast of  Scream 4 continues to shrink and grow all at the same. Within the time span of a week the film has lost 2 castmembers, Lake Bell and Lauren Graham. Now we’ve learned that even though those two are out, three more have joined the party. Marley Shelton, Adam Brody, and Erik Knudsen are the latest additions to the film.

According to THR, Shelton will star as the police officer who was a former classmate of Neve Campbell‘s character Sidney Prescott. Therefore she’ll be replacing Bell who was originally cast in the role. Shelton actually makes more sense for this part because she’s around the same age as Campbell and Bell was a bit too young.

Brody will also play a cop but one who’s recently graduated from college and was raised on the “CSI” TV series. This once again smells like a character based on Seth from “The O.C.” Would it kill him to mix it up a little? Knudsen will play a character similar to Jamie Kennedy’s in the first two movies. He knows about the horror genre and its conventions and will add the comic relief.

Why are there so many cops in this movie? With David Arquette as Dewey, Shelton, and Brody? Something tells us 2 out of 3 of them will die and we’ve got our money on Arquette. Scream 4 is all about passing the torch over to the newbies and it wouldn’t be surprising if all the veterans got killed off for the sake of the new trilogy.
