Sunday night, HBO kicked off its seventh season of the Mark Walhberg produced comedy, “Entourage.” The show about a group of friends and their wild Los Angeles lifestyles was infused with a visit from film director Nick Cassavetes making him the first of this season’s many cameo appearances.
Cassavetes appeared as himself in the episode which featured Vince (Adrien Grenier) landing a role in his latest movie. If you don’t know who the director is SHAME ON YOU! Not only should his family name ring a bell but he had a pretty decent acting career going for himself before transitioning to his full time gig behind the camera.
My favorite Cassavetes performance was in John Woo’s 1997 film Face/Off where he starred as the criminally insane brother of Gina Gershon’s character. He was practically bred for the business, with his mother and father being Hollywood icons in their own right. His dad was the late great John Cassavetes who was also both an actor and director appearing in such films as Rosemary’s Baby and his mother is Gena Rowland who he actually cast as the older female lead in The Notebook.
Did you catch last night’s premiere? What did you think?
