The June 25th weekend doesn’t have much to offer the dedicated moviegoer. Only three films are opening, with one in limited and the other two in wide release. On Wednesday, Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz got a head start on the competition with their action-comedy, Knight and Day. The film centers on a woman who’s life is put in danger after a chance meeting with a defected spy.
On the other hand, Adam Sandler and 90 percent of the cast from “Saturday Night Live” will appear in the comedy Grown Ups. A film about five 40-somethings who reunite over the 4th of July weekend after the death of their old basketball coach.
Restrepo is a war drama that centers on a U.S. Army platoon in Afghanistan’s Korengal Valley. It’s one of the most dangerous posts in the Taliban/al Qaeda stronghold and the film follows the soldiers stay for one excruciating year.
