Just because you and another person share the same heritage and physical features, it doesn’t mean you should play them in a movie. Sylvester Stallone is in the news today because of some comments he made about wanting to star in a biopic based on the life of notorious crime boss, John Gotti.

According to the New York Post, Stallone has been in talks with “Junior” John Gotti III the son of the New York mobster who ran the Gambino crime family, who was also known as “The Dapper Don.” The actor plans on making a movie based on Gotti’s controversial life and he wants to play him in the film. It would be based on Junior’s relationship with his dad, who died in 2002 while serving time in prison.

Both Gottis, father and son had criminal records with the elder being convicted in 1992 of 13 murders. Junior “pleaded guilty to racketeering crimes in 1999 and was released from prison in 2005.”

Who wants to see Stallone play one of the most publicized gangsters of the 20th century? He’s already tackled boxers, assassins, and gangsters in the past so this role wouldn’t be too much of a stretch. My only concern is can he deliver a solid performance?

Do you think Sylvester Stallone could play John Gotti?
