Last week, super-producer Jerry Bruckheimer tweeted several photos from the set of his upcoming feature, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. The film marks the return of Johnny Depp as Captain Jack and the debut of new director, Rob Marshall (Chicago, Nine). While at the press conference for next month’s The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, Bruckheimer gave an update on the status of the film and teased about some new material Depp will bring to his famous character…

Bruckheimer said:

It’s going very well, we’re in Kauai. We finished our first week and are into our second week. Rob’s doing an amazing job and Johnny couldn’t be happier playing Captain Jack again. He delved right into the character and he’s going to give you some new twists and turns that you’re going to love.

New twists and turns? How wacky can the character get? With the absence of Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley, they’ll have a lot of empty space to fill, which means Depp will be pulling triple duty. The new film will tackle both the Fountain of Youth and the legend of Blackbeard the Pirate. He’ll be a very busy man. There’s also the addition of Penelope Cruz and Ian McShane, which is great and all but nothing can compete with the original three musketeers (Jack, Will, Elizabeth).

What new trouble do you think Jack Sparrow will get into in Pirates of the Caribbean On Stranger Tides? Will it be enough to compensate for two missing characters?
