Besides baseball, the ensemble cast was the most important element in the Major League film series. It starred some of the hottest actors of the eighties and nineties including a young Charlie Sheen, Corbin Bernsen, Tom Berenger, and Wesley Snipes. According to a report from Moviehole, writer/director David S. Ward has written a script and is gearing up for another Major League that will take place 20 years later.
The premise for the new Major League, will center around the return of Sheen’s character Rick ‘Wild Thing’ Vaughn and him mentoring a rookie player.
“Wild Thing comes out of retirement to work with this 19-year-old player. We’ve actually got three new characters in the new film. And if the new film is popular, they could carry the franchise on.”
Surprisingly, Sheen seems to be up for the gig and wouldn’t mind fitting it into his busy schedule as long as it doesn’t interfere with his show, “Two and a Half Men.” They can’t shoot it this year but they’re looking to start production sometime in 2011.
Not only do they want Sheen back into the fold, they also want Snipes, Bernsen, and Berenger to get in on the action too! So far, Sheen is the only one they’ve spoken with but the other guys shouldn’t be that hard to get. Bring it on!
