Zombieland helmer Ruben Fleischer has landed a new gig! Instead of fighting off the undead he’s going to take on a Babe in the Woods. His latest project was announced today by Columbia Pictures Presidents Matt Tolmach and Doug Belgrad and even though the title sounds eerily familiar this is no children’s tale. This will be an action-comedy about a young woman being hunted down by the mob!

Babe in the Woods was written by actor/screenwriter Mike White, who previously appeared in Gentlemen Broncos and centers on a college freshman who moves from the Midwest to attend Yale. While there she becomes the target of the New Jersey mob and all hell breaks loose! Fleischer will be a busy man over the next few years with this film, 30 Minutes or Less starring Danny McBride, and of course the developing sequel, Zombieland 2.

If they don’t cast Emma Stone as the lead in Babe in the Woods it will be a crime against humanity. Doesn’t she seem like the perfect fit for this role? She’s young, can play naive, and has a previous working relationship with the director. Think about it Columbia.

What do you think of Fleischer’s decision to take on Babe in the Woods? Are you interested in seeing the film?
