Acclaimed French director Luc Besson is known for his hardcore action flicks but after years in the business he’s ready to challenge himself with something new. According to HeatVision, he’s currently shopping around a script that he wrote along with David Marconi that’s being described as a “love story.”
Besson already has two projects in development, a space-prison drama entitled The Lock Out and the assassin flick Colombiana with Zoe Saldana, both of which he’s producing. Regarding his next directorial gig his love story will take top priority. It’s a film that will mark his first English-language directing project since 1999′s Joan of Arc.
Even though he’s had a hand in several films that have obtained cult and commercial success in the States like The Fifth Element and The Professional he’s been honing his directing skills in his native France. He’s currently in the early stages of casting his new film and is expected to start shooting at the end of September in London and Paris.
I wonder what’s in the script? It sounds like something he has his heart set on, which makes the project seem even more intriguing.
What do you think of Besson directing a love story? Who do you want him to work with?
