As promised, the first trailer for Michel Gondry’s The Green Hornet has finally arrived! It was originally scheduled to premiere on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” but I guess Yahoo Movies said screw that and decided to debut it instead. Either way, its time to see if months of reshoots and recasts were a good or a bad sign of things to come. Check out the trailer and tell us what you think…

Green Hornet is based on the long running radio turned television series that ran during the 1930s and 1960s. The film stars Seth Rogen as Britt Reid, a young newspaper publisher who spends his free time fighting crime as a vigilante hero. He’s typically aided by his driver Kato (Jay Chou), who just happens to be a martial arts master. The film also stars Cameron Diaz as the female lead and Christoph Waltz as the villain.

I’m not completely blown away by this trailer but it’s not as bad as I thought. It looks like every other glossy superhero movie that’s come out in the past few years. There’s nothing really groundbreaking here.

Green Hornet is scheduled to hit theaters on January 14, 2011 and will be available in both 2D and 3D. The film will also open simultaneously in IMAX and conventional theaters.

What do you think of the first photo of Green Hornet? Does it look better or worse than you thought it would?

It's a minor nitpicky thing, but not a good sign.
Britt is watching "Today's Top Headlines" on TV and they show a picture of a PRINT newspaper headline saying he's dead.
    1) Doesn't that mean his father died at least the night before if it's already made a print edition?
    2) When did TV news EVER show a newspaper headline for such a purpose? Not even in the 50's and 60's, and certainly not these days.

Utter crap. Seth was never meant to be the character. It has been brought down to a lower level than I expected.

Seth Rogen as the 'Green Hornet'????? Seth Rogen???? Why not a super talent like Will Ferrell or Nicholas Cage or Jack Black while you're at it?? Couldn't David Spade or Andy Dick clear their schedules?? Oh I get it- Pauly Shore is too old for the role. Do I smell an Oscar from the future??? No- it's a turd no matter when they release it. Seth Rogen????

It looked much better than I thought it would, especially after all its ups and downs. They seem to be doing a buddy cop story in a superhero's shell, which is a fairly new twist. What won me over is that Kato is the badass, which continues the legacy Bruce Lee started.

Did they have a contest to choose the absolute worst actor to play the Green Hornet? Was Seth the loser?
This is the worst! I am so disappointed!

Seth will do fine. I think this will be a fun take on the Green Hornet. Those that wanted something more serious need to get over themselves. Not every superhero movie needs to be "The Dark Knight." This movie looks like it will have comedy, heart, and a lot of serious action. Should be everything that a comic book book movie should be, and that is fun.
