First Photos: Seth Rogen, Jay Chou in The Green Hornet

It was previously announced that Columbia Pictures would release the first teaser trailer for Michel Gondry’s The Green Hornet during an episode of “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” on June 21st. In preparation for the big event, the studio has debuted two official photos of the title character and his trusty valet sidekick. Check out a slender Seth Rogen and a masked Jay Chou below…

Green Hornet is based on the long running radio turned television series that ran during the 1930s and 1960s. The film stars Rogen as Britt Reid, a young newspaper publisher who spends his free time fighting crime as a vigilante hero. He’s typically aided by his driver Kato, who just happens to be a martial arts master. The film also stars Cameron Diaz as the female lead and Christoph Waltz as the villain.

I don’t know about you but I need the trailer for this movie to debut now! There are so many things that could go wrong with this production. Fans of the series need to be reassured that this won’t be a crappy adaptation that defecates on the original. They want something they can be proud of, not a travesty that will have Bruce Lee doing backflips in his grave. Here’s hoping for the best!

Green Hornet is scheduled to hit theaters on January 14, 2011 and will be available in both 2D and 3D. The film will also open simultaneously in IMAX and conventional theaters.
