Amanda Bynes, first gained recognition as the youngest actor on the Nickelodeon sketch comedy series, “All That“, which eventually led to her own gig “The Amanda Show.” This weekend, the 24 year old actress dropped a major bomb via her official Twitter page. She’s retiring from acting!
Twitter seems to be the go to place for celebrities to announce life-changing decisions and Bynes is no exception. Even though she’ll be appearing in the upcoming comedy Easy A this fall with Emma Stone, she’s adamant that she’s done with the business. Here’s what she had to say:
I’ve never written the movies & tv shows I’ve been apart of I’ve only acted like the characters the producers or directors wanted me to play. Being an actress isn’t as fun as it may seem. If I don’t love something anymore I stop doing it. I don’t love acting anymore so I’ve stopped doing it. I know 24 is a young age to retire but you heard it here first I’ve #retired.”
She is rather young to be throwing in the towel but she’s been acting for a good 15 years. It’s not as if she hasn’t clocked in serious time on the job. She started when she was a child and worked throughout her teen years and adulthood. I feel as if I grew up alongside her with her roles in “All That,” “What I Like About You“, and What A Girl Wants.
She hasn’t clarified what her plans are for the future but she will make her final on screen appearance in Easy A when it opens on September 17th.
What do you think of Bynes decision to retire? Do you think she’ll stay gone or make a surprise return?
