Twentieth Century Fox continues to take the necessary steps to bring another Planet of the Apes to the big screen. James Franco was previously cast as the film’s lead and according to Bloody Disgusting, offers have gone out to Iron Man 2′s Don Cheadle and Slumdog Millionaire’s Freida Pinto.

According to the site’s sources, both actors have been offered a role in a film entitled “Caesar,” which they assume is the working title for Planet of the Apes. The news is being regarded as a rumor for now but they believe Cheadle and Pinto are being courted to star in the prequel.

The film will center on the technology that was used to create the super-human, hyper-intelligent apes. We’ll see what it was that specifically caused humans to become inferior to the primates and the science behind it. The script was written by Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver who also serve as producers on the film.

Another name being used for the movie is Rise of the Apes, which sounds a lot better than Caesar. The whole point of doing a reboot or remake is to cash in on the old property’s audience and name recognition is a big part of that. You can’t have a Planet of the Apes movie without “Apes” actually being in the title.

The film will be directed by Rupert Wyatt and is scheduled for release on June 24, 2011.
