Sam Worthington has been dominating the action market because after 10 years as a serious indie star in his native Australia, he wanted a piece of the Hollywood pie. We’ve seen him as a cyborg, a blue humanoid, and a demi-god, but can you imagine him as a comedic character? According to Vulture, Worthington might reunite with his Terminator Salvation director McG in the romantic comedy, This Means War.

This Means War centers on two best friends who have been inseparable since childhood. They grow up and discover that they’ve fallen in love with the same woman, which causes their close bond to disintegrate. They’re both veteran spies and what goes from a typical love triangle turns into a conflict of epic proportions.

Reese Witherspoon is set to play the woman stuck in the middle and Chris Pine has signed on to star as one of the friends. Worthington has been offered the other male lead, which Bradley Cooper was attached to play before he hit a scheduling conflict with The Hangover 2 (he made the logical decision and dropped out).

We’re not sure if Worthington will actually take on the role, he could pass and do one of the many other films he’s got in the works. I wouldn’t mind seeing him tackle something different but I’m not sure if I’m ready to see him in a romantic comedy just yet.

Do you think Worthington should lighten up and do a comedy?
