Even though The Hangover got the cold shoulder for Best Movie at the MTV Movie Awards (damn you Twilight!), it’s still a Golden Globe winner, and has been recently crowned the most popular On Demand film of all time. The On Demand outlet has only been around for a few years but within that time-frame its grown substantially and the drunken, bachelor comedy is its most prized possession.
According to data taken from a national sample of more than 14 million homes, The Hangover tops the list of the 20 most watched On Demand films followed by Twilight (Oh, the irony) at number 2, and Clint Eastwood’s Gran Tarino at number 3. Maybe that film got a major boost from older viewers who don’t like leaving the house anymore?

Overall it looks like comedies are the most purchased titles through the service. Why do you think that is? It’s probably because people want to feel uplifted when they finally get a few hours to themselves. You can just sit back, relax, and push play. You’d have to prepare yourself for something like Doubt or Schindler’s List. Not very relaxing.
Are you surprised that The Hangover topped the On Demand list? Have you purchased any of these films?
