Disney has released a new poster for The Sorcerer’s Apprentice and it’s giving off a serious video game vibe. It’s centered on a character called, “The Wizard” who appears in the theatrical trailer for the film. He’s got bad guy written all over him thanks to his beady eyes, extremely arched eyebrows, and metal claws. Who wears metal claws and has good intentions? Take a look at the full poster…

In the film, Nicholas Cage plays a contemporary sorcerer who seeks and finds an apprentice to help him combat an impeding danger. Alfred Molina plays the main villain, an evil sorcerer who believes the world centers around two things, power and control. Jay Baruchel stars as the title character who’s taken under Cage’s wing, while creepy wizard guy is one of Molina’s goons.

The wizard’s name is Sun Lok and he’s portrayed by Gregory Woo. Lok is an ancient, but perpetually young Chinese sorcerer and Morganian. When he’s unlocked from his Grimhold by Horvath, he wreaks havok in Chinatown during a lively festival by materializing a fearsome fire-breathing dragon. This explains that crazy scene in the trailer where Baruchel is running for his life with a wave of fire behind him.

The Sorcerer’s Apprentice is scheduled to hit theaters on July 14, 2010.
