Update: Paramount has confirmed the Les Grossman spin-off.
Last night the MTV Movie Awards were all about two things: Twilight and Les Grossman. The latter is a character that Tom Cruise played in the 2008 comedy Tropic Thunder, who made several appearances during the ceremony. Not only did he open the show with a pre-taped skit but he interrupted a musical number with The Hangover’s Ed Helms and Ken Jeong to “get right” with Jennifer Lopez. The overall reception to his presence during the show has been positive, so does that mean the world is ready for Les Grossman: The Movie?
This may be a stretch but E! spoke to Cruise backstage at the show and asked him about a possible Grossman movie, in which he replied “We’re working on it. Yup, we’re working on it.” It’s not clear whether he was joking or if he’s seriously considering the project. People seem to dig the Les Grossman character in small doses but could you take him for an entire film?
Even in Tropic Thunder he came on a bit too strong and at times we wanted the camera to back off him and his antics. While his appearance during the Movie Awards was funny it was also over the top. But if you can take all those F-bombs and excessive yelling a Les Grossman movie might be your dream come true.
Would you be interested in seeing Les Grossman in his own feature film?
