Pee-wee Herman’s heading to New York and he’s bringing his big comfy chair with him. The legendary Paul Reubens, who previously played a limited engagement at Club Nokia last winter is heading to the East Coast. His alter ego will appear on the Broadway stage starting this fall and Miss Yvonne, Cowboy Curtis, Pterri the Pterodactyl, and Jambi the Genie are all coming with him!

The play will be based 1981′s “The Pee-wee Herman Show,” with a few elements from his kids series “Pee-wee’s Playhouse.” The routines are written by Reubens and Bill Steinkellner, with additional material by John Paragon. The production is described as “An eye-popping 90 minutes of subversive humor and childlike wonder, that charts a day in the life of our bow-tied hero, one of the most inspired comic personas of our time.”

The Pee-wee Herman” show will officially open on November 11, 2010. The Broadway cast hasn’t been announced yet but the L.A. crew included Lynne Marie Stewart as Miss Yvonne; Phil LaMarr as Cowboy Curtis; Jesse Garcia as Sergio, a new character; Josh Meyers as Firefighter; John Moody as Mailman Mike; John Paragon as Jambi; Drew Powell as Bear; Lance Roberts as King of Cartoons; and Lori Alan and Maceo Oliver as voices.

Even though we love Phil LaMarr, Laurence Fishburne will always be Cowboy Curtis in our eyes! Wouldn’t it be great if he made a cameo during one of the Broadway shows? We’d be all over it!
