Thirty years ago George Lucas unleashed the Star Wars sequel, The Empire Strikes Back onto the free world and we haven’t been the same since. In honor of it turning the big 3-0 we decided to get a little nostalgic and post a vintage movie trailer for the film. Not the one from 1980, we’re talking a 1950s version complete with black and white footage. Yep, we went that far back…

Before watching the video you have to put yourself in the right mindset. Imagine that The Empire Strikes Back is being promoted as a 1950s 3D movie and stars some of the hottest actors of the day. Ready? Go!

The editors of this video took so many clips from some of our favorite sci-fi movies and TV shows. And the fact that they listed Leslie Nielsen as Luke Skywalker was awesome. Even though he looks a little old for the role, Nielsen was still hot stuff back in the day (Tammy and the Bachelor anyone?).

We also have to give them props on throwing in Maria aka The Robot from Metropolis. That was a perfect homage to one of the godfathers of the sci-fi genre.

What do you think of the vintage movie trailer for The Empire Strikes Back?
