Allison Mack Is Leaving Smallville
By Krystal Clark
After it was originally confirmed that Allison Mack would return for the 10th and final season of “Smallville,” a lot of fans jumped for joy. But guess what? It’s not happening! According to EW, the actress has opted out of her contract and wants to put her alter ego Chloe Sullivan on the backburner.
Mack is “Smallville’s” last original female cast member so her exit will be bittersweet but before you get too depressed there is some good news. The actress acknowledges that Chloe has become a huge part of the series’ storyline and is open to returning for guest spots throughout next season.
“It’s amazing to think that Chloe Sullivan and I have been one and the same for over a third of my life,” says Mack in an exclusive statement. “I’m truly humbled by the love and loyalty of all the fans whose enthusiasm has carried me — along with a cast and crew that has become my second family — over the past nine and a half years. Out of respect for the amazingly loyal fans and the place I will always have in my own heart for Chloe, I’m coming back for several episodes next season to tie up Chloe’s Smallville legacy properly.”
When the majority of the original actors decide to leave a show that’s a hint it needs to end. Not after next season but now! Is it wrong that Chloe is our least favorite character on “Smallville”? Nothing against the actress but she’s always been such a nuisance. What do you think is going to happen to Clark and his whole pseudo-Watch Tower operation now that she’s gone?
How do you feel about Allison Mack leaving the show?

I loved Allison Mack. She was one of the most beloved leading ladies on the CW as one affiliate recently called her and she won Teen Choice Awards and tons of popularity polls. Her exit is Smallville's loss.

I agree: She is what kept it all together and it shows that a series can be good without the costume hero always being the center point of the show.

The fact that Chloe hung on for nine years is a testament to Allison, who is extremely attractive and talented and made the role likeable for the most part. Her mannerisms reminded me somewhat of Robin the boy wonder (holy whatever) She will be missed.

She may your least favorite but she's my favorite character and the most genuine.
She will be missed.
