Director Will Gluck of Fired Up! and the upcoming Friends with Benefits, has come up with another high school romantic comedy to add to the vault of teenage dreams gone by. Only this one has a bit of hope! Not only does it appear to have some kind of story to it it also boosts quite an impressive cast. The film stars Emma Stone (my new favorite since Paper Man) and costars Thomas Haden Church, Patricia Clarkson, Stanley Tucci, Penn Badgley, Amanda Bynes, Cam Gigandet, Lisa Kudrow, Malcolm MacDowell, and Aly Michalka.
The film is about a nerdy girl who decides to help out her gay friend by pretending to sleep with him at a party so that people will stop beating him up. Once the nerd-legion finds out about her charitable act, they all want in. As she begins to fake sleep with all the geeks in school she gets labeled a whore by the teenage Christian Right and while reading “The Scarlett Letter,” decides to go with the flow and label herself with an “A”.
Check out the trailer below…
It’s not the most original idea, we’ve seen stories like this a million times, but either because it’s Stone in the lead or just the idea of a hot chick fake-fucking a bunch of nerds, I think this looks like one of the most promising films of its genre! Hopefully the film is a bit more edgy than the trailer and Clarkson actually tells her daughter that she “fucked” or “screwed” a lot of people when she was younger, not whatever word she says in the trailer. ADR-ed much?
Easy A will be in theaters on September 17th 2010.
