Disney has just released two clips from their video game adaptation, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. And from what we’ve seen in the trailers, the film doesn’t look any different from Jerry Bruckheimer’s other countless productions. There’s old school costumes, over the top special effects, and a lead character who dresses like a bum but somehow still looks hot (cough*Jack Sparrow*cough). Check out the latest clips below…
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time centers on Prince Dastan (Jake Gyllenhaal), who reluctantly joins forces with the mysterious Tiana (Gemma Arterton) to race against dark forces and safeguard an ancient dagger capable of releasing the Sands of Time—a gift from the gods that can reverse time and allow its possessor to rule the world.
The first clip is entitled, “The Chase” and it features Dastan running from several guards eventually landing on a rooftop for cover. We’re not sure why a roof would be the logical place for him to hide but we’ll let it slide.
The second clip involves Dastan, Tiana, and quicksand. Lots of quicksand. It looks like a scene taken straight out of Indiana Jones but without the practical effects.
Prince of Perisa: The Sands of Time will debut in theaters on May 28, 2010.
