AMC’s new horror series “The Walking Dead” continues to attract top notch talent. A few weeks ago the male lead was found in Andrew Lincoln, followed by “Prison Break” alum Sarah Wayne Callies, and now a former co-star of “The Shield” has joined the cast. According to THR, Laurie Holden is the latest addition to the show’s growing roster.

In the post apocalyptic zombie drama, Holden will play Andrea “a key member of the survivor group who has a proficiency with a sniper rifle and falls for a man twice her age.” AMC has already acquired 6 episodes of the series with the first one expected to debut in October during the network’s annual Fearfest. The series will be written, directed, and produced by Frank Darabont who previously worked with Holden on the film, The Mist.

The AMC network only has a few original series on their roster but the ones they have are awesome! “The Walking Dead” is based on an extremely popular comic series by Robert Kirkman. It centers on Rick Grimes (Lincoln), a small-town cop who leads a group of survivors in their struggle against a world besieged by zombies. We can’t wait to see what the network does with the horror genre. October seems so far away, we want to see some zombie action now!
