Top Ten Most Anticipated Films of Summer 2010
By Krystal Clark
It’s no secret that summer is Hollywood’s favorite time of year. Kids are out of school, parents are on vacation and the studios roll out their biggest films to catch people’s attention (and dollars). This year’s blockbuster season has everything from superheroes, to super spies, and even super toys. With so many movies to choose from we’ve narrowed down the top 10 that we’ve been itching to see on the big screen. Can you guess which film beat out the competition to land at number one (hint: it’s not Iron Man 2)?
Find out below…
10. The Twilight Saga: Eclipse

In all honesty Eclipse is only on the list because we know you love it and I wanted to get it out of the way so that we can focus on the important blockbusters.
Twilight has somehow gone from Edward vs James to Edward vs. Jacob to The Cullens vs random evil vampires. Edward and Bella’s relationship continues to hit a wall in the form of a teen wolf who has a serious hatred for emo bloodsuckers with high cheekbones. Now lets get to what’s important…
Our Score Board:

9. Salt
When you mix Wanted and Jason Bourne with a touch of Mission Impossible, you get Angelina Jolie’s latest film, Salt. It’s about a framed government agent who fights, injures, and kills anyone she has to to find out the truth. Who wouldn’t want to watch a 120 pound woman take on a group of trained assassins twice her size and win?

8. Jonah Hex
We’re excited to see Josh Brolin headline a comic book movie and Megan Fox attempt to pull off a southern accent. Jonah Hex doesn’t use fancy costumes or gimmicks to draw us in, it’s just a simple revenge story about a guy living in the Old West. It also doesn’t hurt that he happens to look like Two-Face from The Dark Knight. Are we the only ones who noticed that?
- Coolness Factor: 7/10
- Anticipation Factor: 9/10
- Ridiculously Awesome Factor: 6/10
- Chance of Making More Money Than Avatar…We Mean God: 2/10
Total: 24 /40

7. The Expendables

The year 1985 just called and it wants 90 percent of its actors back. Sylvester Stallone must have a thing for nostalgia because he’s produced the biggest eighties action movie ever created with The Expendables. He’s pulled The Transporter (Jason Statham), The Enforcer (Jet Li), John McClane (Bruce Willis), and The Terminator (Arnold Schwarzenegger) all out of retirement for one last kick-ass romp.
- Coolness Factor: 10/10
- Anticipation Factor: 7/10
- Ridiculously Awesome Factor: 9/10
- Chance of Making More Money Than Avatar…We Mean God: 4/10
Total: 30 /40

6. The A-Team
Do you enjoy watching men shoot guns and throw bombs without hitting a single target? If so, The A-Team is the movie for you! The Joe Carnahan adaption of the TV series will be hitting the big screen with a new Hannibal, Face, B.A., and Murdoch. Somehow this film quickly went from being one of the most unwanted remakes to the most anticipated. In the words of Hannibal himself, “We love it when a plan comes together.”
- Coolness Factor: 8/10
- Anticipation Factor: 8/10
- Ridiculously Awesome Factor: 10/10
- Chance of Making More Money Than Avatar…We Mean God: 5/10

5. Scott Pilgrim Vs The World

Edgar Wright’s Scott Pilgrim vs the World is a literal translation from the comic to the screen with a few cartoonish martial arts sequences and some cool music battles. If this was any other film we’d say run for the hills but somehow Pilgrim makes it work. When was the last time you saw a movie successfully use dialogue bubbles like, “Boom! Kapow! and Smack!” that didn’t star Adam West?
- Coolness Factor: 9/10
- Anticipation Factor: 10/10
- Ridiculously Awesome Factor: 7/10
- Chance of Making More Money Than Avatar…We Mean God: 5/10
Total: 31/40

4. Robin Hood

This summer Russell Crowe will kick ass and take names, while wearing tight leather pants in the English epic, Robin Hood. Crowe and director Ridley Scott are hoping to restore Robin Hood to his former glory after Mel Brooks turned him into a joke (Robin Hood Men in Tights) and Disney drew him as an animated fox. It’s time to get back to basics.
- Coolness Factor: 10/10
- Anticipation Factor: 8/10
- Ridiculously Awesome Factor: 9/10
- Chance of Making More Money Than Avatar…We Mean God: 5/10

3. Toy Story 3

It’s been over ten years since we last saw Buzz, Woody, and the rest of the Toy Story gang and it’s time for another fix. Pixar is releasing a third film in the series that will feature the toys fighting for their lives at a daycare filled with rabid babies, mucous, saliva, and poo. We don’t know how they’ll escape but we’re sure Buzz will go to infinity and beyond to get them out of there.
- Coolness Factor: 10/10
- Anticipation Factor: 9/10
- Ridiculously Awesome Factor: 7/10
- Chance of Making More Money Than Avatar…We Mean God: 8/10

2. Iron Man 2

Iron Man 2 has multiple new villains but it also has multiple heroes including James Rhodes who somehow looks completely different since the last time we saw him (different height, complexion, eye color, hair color, etc). Aside from that, drooling over Robert Downey Jr. and his perfectly manicured goatee is all the incentive we need to purchase our ticket. We’ll take him and you can have Scarlett Johansson.
- Coolness Factor: 10/10
- Anticipation Factor: 10/10
- Ridiculously Awesome Factor: 9/10
- Chance of Making More Money Than Avatar…We Mean God: 9/10
Total: 38/40
Release Date: May 7, 2010
Director: Jon Favreau
Biggest Draw: Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson

1. Inception

Inception is the most anticipated film of the summer because no one knows what the hell it’s about! Supposedly, it centers on a man who can invade dreams and possibly stop crimes from happening. This somehow translates to Leonardo DiCaprio bouncing off walls, Joseph Gordon-Levitt looking like an extra from “Mad Men,” and Cillian Murphy going crazy! What does it all mean?!
- Coolness Factor: 10/10
- Anticipation Factor: 10/10
- Ridiculously Awesome Factor: 10/10
- Chance of Making More Money Than Avatar…We Mean God: 8/10
Total: 38/40
